The Kafr Dawoud-Sadat railway line, which was inaugurated by the presidency today, Saturday, October 12, via video conference, is the latest new train line to serve the trade and development movement in the middle and western Delta and Lower Egypt,
which comes within the framework of the political leadership’s directives to establish railway links and lines to connect new urban communities to the railway network to serve passenger transport.
The line connects the current “Imbaba/Etihad/Qabari” line in Alexandria, and Sadat City, after implementation work was halted for more than 10 years.
The line is 34.4 km long from its branch point between the Tarana and Kafr Dawoud stations and includes 3 stations: “A passenger station to serve the village of El-Gazzar – A station to serve Sadat City – A station to serve passengers and goods at the end of the line to serve the industrial zone, the dry port and the logistics center.” The works on the line included civil works and bridge construction works.
All civil works on the project were completed, as well as the construction of bridges, taxis, and block kiosks. A terminal station for passengers and goods was established at km 34 and a passenger station at km 28. A metal bridge was also constructed on the Nasser River at km 2,500. The Railway Authority confirmed that the construction of this line will connect Sadat City to the current railway network to contribute to economic and social development and facilitate the movement of citizens. The line aims to connect the dry port and the logistics area in Sadat City to the port of Alexandria to contribute to increasing and maximizing the transport of goods via railways to relieve pressure on roads, reduce accidents, and increase the resources of the Railway Authority. The line also serves the movement of passengers between the governorates of Menoufia, Beheira, Cairo, and Sadat City.
